Bob Pugh, CFA, CFP®

Bob is a CFA charterholder, CFP® certificant, and NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor. He draws on his broad experience in private wealth management, academia, government, and professional leadership to help clients achieve their financial goals.

My Professional Background

Before joining Evermay in 2024, I was an entrepreneurial wealth manager at Insight Wealth Management, the independent firm my wife and I co-founded in 2005. My prior experience includes serving as an Economic Analyst with the Central Intelligence Agency, a Senior Financial Analyst with the Prince William County, Virginia Government, and a U.S. Foreign Service Officer with posts in Germany and South Africa.

Previously, I spent 15 years as a member of the Practitioner Faculty at Johns Hopkins University’s Carey School of Business, where I taught graduate-level courses in portfolio management, investment analysis, and corporate finance. I also taught executive training in finance for their corporate partnership program and continuing education in investments and portfolio management for the Business of Medicine program at the JHU School of Medicine. Additionally, I administered the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) Exam review both in the United States and internationally, including for the CFA Society of Washington, D.C., the World Bank Treasury, Merrill Lynch, and Fidelity.

I hold an M.S. in Financial Economics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an M.A. in Global Political Economy from The Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies.

My Personal Life

I’ve been the President of the CFA Society of Washington, D.C., and served as an Eastern Region Presidents Council Representative with the CFA Institute®. Through such roles, I covered CFA Societies from Maine through Virginia. 

I’ve also been the President and a board member of the Health Systems Agency of Northern Virginia (HSANV) where we evaluated and planned healthcare resources and facilities for the Northern Virginia area of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. 

Additionally, I am a MENSA member and former MENSA Testing Coordinator for the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. region.
